Well, the latest addition to my stable arrived this week, and I am well pleased :D This is a beautiful, beautiful guitar, and like all my EB/MM's the finish and workmanship are top notch. And, of course, it plays like a dream. I have to intonate it once I get the new strings stretched in today, but otherwise it was perfect right out of the box.

Check out my web page with pics and description, and tell me what you think:

Hey Very Nice SS you have there! I had a SS it also had very nice wood as well ..... same color too! Is your top a custom top or just a very nice one that EB says "slips through" when they make them?

I posted a while ago about the 500.00 upcharge tops and didn't get much response ..... since most tops look great (like yours). I can only hope my "custom top" will be so darn nice I puke!!!!! We ordered mine May 2nd, should be here in town by the 16th of June "so-he-said". :D Thank God I'm not paying retail and that it is already paid for ... BTW it's a SS, tremolo, piezo, matching head stock, cherry burst.

I also had a Blue Sport like yours as well ......... I loved it! Oh and last week traded my Amber Axis for a ESP (since I'm getting the SS soon) Nothing like a 24 fret les paul style, floyd rose, EMG equiped guitar thru a Marshall TSL 100 and George Lynch 2x12 Cab...... I just don't like the "pushhead spider" graphic .... I covered it with a temporary stick spiderman decal ... looks much better! Sometimes it sucks working at a music store ... too many toys to play with!

Opps I'm rambling ...

Love your new Guitar!!!

Hey Zigistar, I responded to your 'Custom Top' thread :D . Wish I could get this picture I have of it too you !!

Love the MMAxis Jimi. Had mine about 6weeks now, (Trans purple), and it just sounds and feels better and better to me. Having a bit of a noise problem with it though, hopefully nothing that can be sorted out, but that's another thread.

That is absolutely stunning!...Congrats!:D

Jimi D...as you seem to be one of the most fanatical members of this board (!) I was wondering if you might do me a favour. I am currently contemplating buying another EB/MM but I live in the UK where the prices are quite high. As I have relatives in the USA who are coming to the UK soon I wondered if you, or anybody else, see some good EB/MM examples in the US then you might put me on to them. Many of the examples I see in the US, including your latest, seem to have great tops and excellent birds-eye maple necks which aren't so common in the UK. I am interested in any of the following models: -

EB/MM Axis Sport MM90 (hardtail) or HH (hardtail or tremolo)
EB/MM Axis Super Sport MM90 (hardtail) or HH (hardtail or tremolo)

I have been looking for an example with an all maple BIRDS-EYE  neck. Don't go out of your way but if you see anything or could put me on to any dealers on the web, I'd be really grateful.

Cheers,

Pete:)

I'll keep an eye peeled Pete - if I stumble across anything that seems to fit your bill, I'll let you know. I'm not an American however - I'm a bleedin' Colonial; beavers and muc-lucs and hockey and all that :D

ZigiStar - mine's just a production top and neck; really, really good production top and neck, but not a Custom order. From what I've heard, the Custom top and neck are even more stunning!

Thanks a lot! By the way, sorry for calling you American, I understand that's a real faux pas!:D

Pete,

The guy I bought mine from has a MM90 SS for sale. I'm pretty sure he's still got it, although he had it up on ebay. It's in London

here's the link anyway

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=2384&item=2522669285

Ooops, just realised- might be the wrong neck

Kev

Yeah, I'm really looking for an all maple neck, although that birds-eye looks great. Plus it's already sold!:D

I'm a huge Tele fan, so if I get the Axis Sport I really want the brightness of the maple with the ash for a more fat-Tele type vibe.

Cheers guys,

Pete:)

OK Pete, he must have sold it in the last couple of weeks then. The link I sent you was the guitar when it was in the USA, the guy in London selling it is the guy who won that bid and imported it over here.

Never mind, wrong neck anyway:D
I'll keep an eye out.
By the way, don't you have a Cornford ?, I'd be interested in how you get on with it. Perhaps you could PM me.

Cheers

Hi Kev,

It's always nice to hear from EB/MM users in the UK, even nicer to hear from a Cornford owner - we're rare breeds! I'm loving the Cornford at the moment. I traded my Mesa Trem-O-Verb for it around a year ago and I've had no regrets. It's kind of the 'anti-Mesa' in its simplicity which I like. To be honest I've not gigged with it - I quit my band when I came to uni and I haven't been able to crank the Hurricane for too long - its not really a low volume performer! :D But I'd definately be interested to see how it would fit into a band context, seems to have a lot of kick for a small combo.

I run a Teese Picture Wah and a Keeley-modded Boss SD-1 in front of it which is simple and sounds good. How are you enjoying the Hurricane? Any problems with it? What other gear are you using?

With regards to my EB/MM I didn't really intend to buy it! I was in Denmark Street (perhaps the stupidest place to look for a reasonably priced guitar) and it caught my eye. I had played Phil Hilborne's (Guitar Techniques editor) LUKE through his Harlequin and was suitably impressed with the combination! He has a PRS deal with two sweet custom built PRS but he actually seeemed to enjoy playing the LUKE better which was good enough a recommendation! I've had a few problems with it regarding the Silent Circuit and unfortunately because I fitted new pickups my warranty became invalid! But basically it's a great guitar and has become my number 1!

Cheers,

Pete
