Didn't spring for a 30th as discussed, but instead got this luvverly '92-ish (to be verified when I pull the neck but no reason to do so yet) classic burst 3 band Stingray. Beautiful condition apart from a few nicks and scrapes, and a touch of birdseye to complement the beautiful shaped neck.

Nice! good decision/choice!

Can't tell from the pics and curious about the back
of the neck - it does not appear to be finished?
Looks like the oil/wax treatment?

<my '92 has a finished neck>

nice score, I used to own one just like that, but in my whoreish pursuit of something else I let it go. I regret it to this day.

No need to pull of the neck. Just post the Serial Number in here Music Man Serial Number Database

I got the serial number (on the bridge) from the seller prior to purchase, and compared it to the database. It would seem to put it on the cusp of 91/92, so the only way to verify will be to investigate inside. Then I'll post it.

Definitely a finished job. Not a bad thing IMO, though if it wasn't I'd do the oil/wax thang like I have on others.

Oh yes, and I didn't mention the tone of this thing. Kaboom....

You know, I have been put off vintage sunburst probably due to the length of my days and the sheer numbers of guitars and basses I have seen in that colour combo. But for some strange reason it just looks perfectly right on that four banger. Maybe its the maple board????? Nice get. Well done.

BTW, Dan at EBMM Customer service can tell you the exact DOB if you ask. Drop him a line on the Serial Number Database thread.

Bursts

Mmmm. Something is happening here. I used to be really into custom colors, but by stealth my basses are going bursty. Here's another:

Nice, I dig the mutes. EBMM has the nicest trans colors/bursts because they acctually care what the wood looks like underneath.

Damn, I've had this thing less than a week, and it's really, really good! I just need to go out and do a gig to really give it a run. Holy crap, forgot how good a Stingray 4 can be.

I just checked the serial no thread, it's a 1991, June 16 1991 to be precise. Thanks to EB for the excellent information.
