new on bass

I need help!!!!!!!!!!!
I want to learn the bass, I think I can pick it up fairly quickly.
But I don't know my sh!+!!!!!!! I need suggestions for a bass.
I'll be jammin with 1 guy pickin on a Fender Telecaster, and another guy strummin power cords on a Fender traticaster. (drums soon to come). We have a hard rock edge with country aftertones. Any suggestions for a what Bass to start on with this sound. I was thinkin a little marshal amp, but I don't know which bass guitar to look at. I don't want to spend more then $600 US for both, so probably around $300 -350 on the actual guitar. Can anybody hear me, can anybody help me, can anybody save me!

Ernie Ball don't sell any basses in the price range you're aiming at, but a lot of people say good things about the OLP range which are licenced copies of Ernie Ball basses.

Please somebody help me!! I'm thinkin a little Marshal amp, but what bass (keep it simple, nice look, crisp clean sound, etyc...) good for rock and country!!!!

OLP basses are your best bet for that price. They have the look and feel of a Music Man, then you can step up to either a SUB by Music Man or a Sterling/Sting Ray or Bongo once you're ready! But I do recommend the OLPs for the price you're looking in.

Pete is right on the mark.

I don't think you realize that this message board is owned and maintained by Ernie Ball and that's the kind of bassses we talk about here. EB makes some excellent basses but not what most would consider a "beginner" bass. Not because they aren't great basses mind you, but because most beginner bassists, like yourself, don't start out on the higher end models because they want to get in for as little money as possible. EB's basses are mostly intermediate and pro instruments.

OLP basses are great basses jsut like P.Pet has mentioned. You wont get many other endorsements on this board though. Good luck.

but for that marshall amp, the only bass amps i know that marshall makes are maaaaddd pricy.. so just get a little amp but from a company known for bass, like hartke, Gallien Krueger, Ampeg, SWR. they all make cheaper series of amps, so just look into them... i personaly play a hartke amp, and i would bet their little combos would sound excelent.

Take the highly recommended path to a full-blown EBMM...

OLP -> EBMM S.U.B. -> StingRay/Sterling/Bongo

if you want an amp go with a f*end*er rumble 60, about 200 I think, good bass going through and some options. or a hrtke, great sounds, but marshalls are expensive out the wazoo.

good luck, try an olp bass, sound fine and are worth it.
