Took a little drive this morning to meet with Pete, Nick and Donna Dubaldo.
And, oh yeah, picked up the new Rosewood Axis SS with 90's and piezo :D
Many thanks to Pete.
Also did a quick pup cover swap for me - black rather than the cream - and I'm also going to swap the dome knobs to black. Sort of a "Stealth Rosewood" look.

So ladies and gentlemen, without further adieu, I present Rosie

Tried the piezo through a cheap bass practice amp I have and it still sounds good!!! Busted out a quick PPL Amy and then some Norwegian Wood. - tasty-

Overall the guitar is very spanky - I like JimiD's description of a tele on steroids - still trying to put it through some paces. I wish I played better and had a more diverse history to provide better descriptions for you guys so I'll just have to speak in generalities.

How does the unfinished rosewood neck feel under the hand?
The rosewood feels a little "denser" than the maple if that is a description I can use. It's a heavier and somewhat oilier wood and that seems to come through. Very comfortable, but not quite as "fast" as my AL, but then again I'm not fast enough to keep up with either so makes no matter to me. I'll try and come up with some more descriptive metaphors as I try it out

Mike, nice addition. I know this is off topic, but what do you think about your Reverend? I had a chance to play one not long ago and liked it. The one I played was the slingshot custom with 3 P90's. I have my eye one, but dont know anyone that has one. Harmony Central seems positive towards the guitar. Thanks

I like the Reverend. Its light and very playable, they're semi-hollow with a composite cap over a mahogany center block and a stainless steel bar to add sustain. Neck has a satin finish and is a C shape based on 62 f3nd3r strat. This one was a limited edition with a Rio Grande Blues Bar rather than their own pup.

They've actually just stopped producing their USA line with the exception of Rick Vito sig line. Being manufactured overseas and assembled in Michigan.

Excellent choice there. If it had a trem, it'd be even better ;)
But seriously, I bet the soapbars and rosewood are a great combination.

Any chance I can get an angled super close up picture of the piezo bridge?
I'm piezo-ing my Axis and I was wodering how the saddle conductors were routed.

In any case, congrats, and play the hell out of it.

Hey Mike,
Congrats on a nice axe!!! That rosewood is really growing on me and I think I'd prefer the MM90's as well...

I tried taking some close ups but with my little P&S digital they came out like cr*p and out of focus so its ttough to tell.

I'm not one who works on my own stuff, but to try and describe it, each piezo saddle has a single lead going straight down through individual holes in the bridge plate. They do not enter the cavity individually. I started poking around the cavity a bit, but then remembered who I was and that I would F something up so I closed it back up  The battery compartment is set parallel to the bridge, centered about 2.5 inches behind the string through ferrules. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
