Wasup y'all.

So I was in a different part of town for work yesterday, conveniently near the flagship GC (Hollywood). Figured, hey, it's about lunch time, let's go take a lookie.

I was looking for a Sterling HS to fiddle around w/, but my this really amazing looking Stingray caught my eye. It had a natural gloss finish, but it was significantly darker than any natural finish I'd ever seen. In fact, it was hanging right next to another natural Ray, and it was definitely a shade darker. Both of these were much darker than any EB natural finish I've ever seen. It was not any anniversary or LE model either, just a new stock 'Ray. I asked the rep about the finish, he said it was just the woodgrain was more prevalent, so it looked darker. I tried to take a picture w/ my phone, to no avail. Anyhoo, just wanted to know if anyone else has seen any significantly darker natural gloss finishes on new EBMM's these days?

Oh yeah, regarding the Sterling, there were no HS's on the wall, I asked the rep, and he said there's one in the back on hold, but the dude hadn't put any money down and was 4 days late on picking it up. He said he'll bring it out only if I'm really serious about buying today. I didn't have the time or patience for the sales pitch and this guys approach, so I told him don't bother...

Was it trans gold?

Or it could have just been a dark grained piece of ash . . .

There's one in the For Sale section that is lighter than any others I've ever seen. Quite stunning!

I have 2 Sadowskys that are natural swamp ash and they are different colours. I think more grain on the one makes it look darker or the one piece of wood may be a tad yellower.

Most natural EBMMs seem to be pretty close in colour though.

I think you guys are all correct, there was just a lot of grain. It was almost like 80% of the body was grain or something...

I've seen the same situation in my shop, we had two natural sterling H/S' on the wall at the same time, and one had a thicker grain and was considerably darker than the other. ain't nature a wonderful thing?
