Hey there!!

This is my first Stingray, I just bought it Friday and have just about put it down long enough for me to eat. Great sounding, great playing, beautiful finish.

I have been playing G&L basses for the last two years and have a pretty nice collection of those (the ASAT is my favorite). With some things that have gone on behind the scenes with Eden amplification and Alpha Audio (Musicman dealer) in Mystic Conn. I was given the chance to get a great deal on the Ray that I purchased. I had tried a few out over the years but could never get comfortable playing them, I was so used to using the bridge pickup as a thumb rest that I could never quite adjust to the single pickup position on the Ray. I always loved the sound of them and it always bothered me that I had a weird mental thing going on in my head why I could not play them. Well I spent about an hour playing this one in the store and I have too say I had no problem adjusting too it, the bass was setup perfect with great intonation and the strings so low that you could practically breath on them and play a note. The one thing I really like about the bass is the sustain it has on the E string when dropped tuned to a D, it rings forever and stays nice and fat sounding.
This bass has the 2-band EQ, which I have no idea if it's any better or not than the 3-band ones that are out but I do know it sounds great too me :D

For some of my info check out my signature, and I am *sometimes* on the Eden forum.

Hey I see your bass that you have on order is the same finish, how will it look with a black pickguard? I tried checking the bass builder on the website but it kept saying image not available.

Yes its PBB and.. with black it looks great. I dont like white pearl on it because then theres too many different colors..black ties in with the finish nicely.

I will have too see what black looks like on this finish, I am happy with the combination I have but I was going to maybe playaround with a few different pick guards for fun.

Welcome to the board Vinny. That's a nice bass in a nice color. Real worthy of the distinction of being your first MM (trust me you will buy more).

I have played nothing but 5-string basses for the last 15+ years and had sold off all my 4-string basses many years ago. Then one day about a year or so ago I spotted the G&L SB-2 (burst finish) in a store and could not get over how well it played. Since then I have been trying too put together a band where all I have to play are my four string basses (I think I have it now!).
I bought three 4-string basses in the last year and have sold one off to get the Ray (the natural SB-2 if the sale goes through) so my 5-string buying days are put on hold for now, I really want to have fun playing the 4 bangers for a while.
