I haven't posted anything here before, but I've read quite a bit. Well, now I have a problem, so here I am. By the way, I own a Petrucci, pearl redburst w/ piezo. Great guitar I must say, having tried quite alot since I work in a musicstore in Norway. Well, I've had my Petrucci for some months, and suddenly the pickup-switch (Don't know if thats what they're called, Norwegian guy...) just won't work. I can't get it to the neck position. Anyone had the same problem, or could give me an idea of what to do? Change pot or something?

Are you unable to toggle the switch to the desired position? If so, you need to replace the pick-up switch. I had the same problem. Sometimes you just get a defective switch that has to be replaced. I called Ernie Ball and bougth a replacement switch. The Petrucci model has its own special switch, so you need to get one from Ernie Ball. It's a pain to replace. I did it myself, but if you don't have any experience soldering, I would have a pro do it.

Thanks, and Arg! I'm not really of the patient kind, but I guess I got to wait for the switch then. I'm not able to toggle the switch, and yes, it seems like it's the switch, not the pot. I have been toggling a bit rough I guess, but it's kinda tempting when the switch is placed so that I only have to give it a small "hit" to change rapidly. Perfect actually, but I guess I should be more careful with it from now.

Thanks for your help.

Ha, fixed it!

I brought the guitar with me to work (musical instruments-shop), and a friend there got it fixed. We had to open the switch, and found a tiny part of plastic had broke. After gluing it back in place, and struggling for an hour or so to get the pieces where they should be, it works fine! Still, I do think that I'll have another one. Never know how long it will work, but I'll be more careful from now...

It shouldn't matter how hard you hit it, it should work, so get a new one put in if your glue doesn't work :)
