I've strictly been a Fender Strat or Tele player since 1994, and recently I decided I wanted a change. After some horse trading I was able to purchase a new Sterling AX40. It sounds fantastic and plays well. One of the first things I like to do is change the strings and do a full set up, but as I thought about it I realized I have no clue how to change the strings on a floating bridge. Anybody got a good resource for a tutorial. I'll take any recommendations as well on string type/ brand and recommended pickup heights. Thanks!

Its not a floating bridge it only lowers pitch. I think you mean locking trem. But as for strings I go with super slinky 9s. I love the Ax40, best guitar for the price hands down, and a great platform for mods, but if you got the 2013 you got the real dimarzio pickups, if you ever want to swap or sell those pickups pm me. Thanks.

As for pickup height they are mounted to the body so you cant adjust them. Changing the strings is fairly easy, there are many good resources out there if you do a search on it, great guitar enjoy it! And if it is an ax40d and you ever want to sell those pickups let me know, thanks.

The pickups are sterling A5 humbuckers. They are great pickups! I have a regular ax40 in trans gold, and think they're great, Im upgrading to dimarzio pickups, the reason why I asked is because the ax40d (d for dimarzio) has the real axis pickups, which are not for sale separately. So unless you can find the axis pickups used you cant buy them, Dimarzio says the closest pickups they make are the AT1 for the bridge and the air norton for the neck. Those are the pickups Im going with, although the stock pickups are not bad at all.

What color did you get? Post a picture if you can, I love my ax40, its a great way to get into ernie ball guitars, sterlings are great for an introduction to the real deal. My ax40 is my favorite guitar.
Well, mine is the Purple one from Guitar Center. It's definitely not my favorite color, but its still a good looking guitar and the veneer looks really nice.
