Help! No piezo output on JP6?

As I posted earlier this week, I just purchased a 2004 JP6 with piezo. However, I havent been able to get any sound out of the mono/piezo output at all. The magnetic output works fine, and I've tried three different batteries, but the piezo output gives me nothing - not even the magnetic pickups.

Any ideas?

Some other malfunction in the electronics? Have somebody verify the electronics are all good?

Having refurbed a JP6 and totally sorted the piezo, make sure (apart from the obvious loose connections) that all the fly leads from the saddles are good - unlikely that all 6 are loose though!
However it is possible for the pcb that the leads are soldered to, to short out if for example somebody has tried to resolder the fly leads to the pcb.

I do have a jp6 piezo pre amp, unused - and you know that delorean parts are expensive !!! - but a lot cheaper in the US

A nice MusicMan tech helped me out - the two metal plates under the batteri werent connecting, so they needed to be slightly bent towards the battery. Easy fix. Thanks for all the suggestions!

When putting the battery pack back, however, one of the two small cables connecting it came off... Good thing my lead singer i handy with a soldering iron

Great stuff - because it's so easy to melt the compartment when you solder the lead back on lol

Sounds like a man of experience - any tips?

You can get some clamps to use as heat sinks on the connection end of the contacts. This will keep the heat from getting into the box as much.

Update: My lead singer was able to fix the wire and the piezo works now.

Next problems that needs solving on my JP6:

- B-string has lower piezo output than the rest of the strings - might need changing
- Several 'dead' positions on the neck - going in for a fret level and bigtime service this week.

Even with all the issues, I just love playing it. That neck...
