Just a little question. Is it good that strings are touching fingerboard in after-the-nut area?? I think this occurs here and few forumitees also posted a some time before that they had such "issue" (I don't know if it is an issue),

Not really.

Mine is one of the ones that's being fixed (they just shipped it yesterday!). It was effecting tuning stability on my low B and E strings (it's a JP7).

Good they sorted out for you. But maybe EB should take a look at it in the manufacturing process, hell I don't know how are they making them so don't listen to my "loud thinking" :)

Phillip,

I believe that BP mentioned that after having a look at Jeffrey's (and maybe others) they decided to make a slight change in the manufacturing process to prevent the problem. So I think they're already on it.

Yep, Steve is right.

Actually I probably should've posted this. :)

I haven't seen it, but what Dan explained to me was this:

The rosewood behind the nut will be routed down at a slight angle to allow for more string clearance. I believe that's what they did with mine then re-sprayed the headstock.

The low B and E strings on mine were digging into the rosewood. If I bent the strings (which I do a lot) or touched the trem (which I do, but not a lot) it went out of tune due to dragging on the rosewood (I'm guessing).

This should sort it out though. :)

I would like to see that. I will be ordering a new Petrucci I think at the end of this month (unless I find sth locally) so I was just curious about that, thx for the info Jeffrey and Steve.

Now lets turn this thread on the right root. Pete!!! Awesome PICS!!!!!! COOL NUT THERE!! :D

That's cool. I was starting to think all comp. nuts were going to be white. Now if I could only find a JP 7 CBP with the new nut...

So this must be the same problem that is happening with mine. Everyone on here thought I was crazy when I said that my E was going flat just by touching the trem. Let me know what you do to yours so I can do it to mine.

They're actually doing it for me.

When you remove the strings, if you see white 'cuts' into the clearcut/rosewood behind the nut, you have the same problem I did.

If so, give Dan a call at Ernie Ball. He'll take care of ya. :)
