Hello all,

So I recently bought a JP6 on Reverb and the guitar is great, basically as described. HOWEVER, the Hard Shell Case is (I think) unsalvageable. It's pretty obvious that a cat or multiple cats peed in it. I'm going to attempt some baking soda and later vinegar/water mixtures to see if it's possible to fix it. But it's pretty nasty.

I've done a little looking and can't seem to find EBMM cases for sale anywhere. Not on Reverb or on the official site. I'd be fine with a Mono case but I appear to be looking in the wrong places. Are cases only sold with guitars? Or am I just not searching correctly?

Any info would be helpful. Thanks!

Do you really need a case? Mine pretty much sit it in storage and I use a gig bag when they leave the house.

Well, every live gig I do (which is not THAT many, but enough), I usually bring at least 3 guitars and carting them around that much with other bands and sound techs means things occasionally get kicked, knocked over, and accidentally stepped on. It's rare, but it happens and I'd prefer to have a little more protection than a gig bag.

Fwiw, I bring two to gigs in Mono gig bags, and they get slammed around. Great protection.

Anyhow, reach out to MM on Monday and maybe they can hook you up with one of the newer Mono cases. Or keep an eye out for a second hand case. You could always put a note in the 'WTB' thread- people do sell cases from time to time.

I’ll hit it from another angle. I’ve had multiple EBMM (and non EBMM) hard cases that have a certain aroma similar to your description. Most have not been that strong, but are noticeable and can get onto the guitar. I think it’s the adhesive used breaking down after years of existence. I have not smelled it on any of the new Mono ones, but those haven’t been out as long.

Before buying a new one, try cleaning it with whatever cleaner you fancy, and let the interior bake in the sun for a day or two.

Okay this is super helpful to hear. I cleaned it and SO FAR it seems like that really helped. We'll see if it lasts.

It wouldn't surprise me if it's some sort of adhesive problem. This case is well used so it wouldn't be shocking if it's just old or been out in the sun and the adhesive smells. Fingers crossed.

If it comes back, I'm definitely going to contact EBMM to see if I can buy a Mono case. Though they're a little bulkier (or at least thicker), I've really been happy with my Axis Mono case.

I still have a brand new EBMM hardshell case bought in 2012 for a JP6 BFR for sale currently. PM me if interested.

Put this in the looking to buy forum but will try here as well! Looking for a hard case for a St. Vincent Music Man model. Love the guitar and although it came with a case, I really would love to get a hold of the OEM hard shell case! Please PM me you happen to have one and looking to find it a new home!

Last year'ish. Too bad I haven't tried the new Mono cases, but personally prefer the SKB style cases.

I got one of the new Mono cases with my Matcha Green Axis SS. They're not bad, but too bulky. I wish they'd just done something like the Mono Classic instead.

I was willing to try and do the Mono but when contacting them they offered me a "universal" case VS the one which is cut for the St. Vincent body style. They said they were unable to sell those outside of Ernie Ball which said only Mono could sell them :-)

Needless to say...still on the hunt for either OEM version!

I'm trying to get one of the new mono cases for my Cutlass. I can't stand the SKB case.
Hopefully at some point I can get one.

Yup! Mono gigbags are my go to for this reason. They take a hell of a beating and the guitars never seem to suffer for it. For every bar/pub gig that I’m doing I bring two guitars. I have one Mono Dual guitar case that I bring and I love that thing to death! It’s so awesome to carry in two guitars on your back, pedalboard bag in one hand and combo amp in the other. One trip from the car. Makes me a happy camper!

So since this is still out there, my main dislike on the new cases is storage and how bulky they are. They do protect the guitars well but take up so much space and storage is more difficult

This is my take as well. I think the Mono cases are cool, but storage (and travel) is a little harder with them, for me.

Having just purchased a different "high end brand guitar" and loving the gigbag they use, I would love to get my hands on an EBMM Mono bag or 2 for transporting my MM Guitars.
