Oh dear.....

I like the inlay but why have the monkey grip? I guess even if you are a Vai freak there is no substitution for great playability.
 
Just to hide the true horror they havent included a headstock shot :D

To be fair it could have been quite nice - that is before all the gold, monkey grips and pearl covers were bolted on!!!
 
If you want all that stuff just buy a JEM 7VWH - and pay over the odds for a Jap factory built POS! It staggers me how expensive those guitars have become. In Denmark St, London they have a Blue Sparkle Jem that is up for £1799 (thats 3324 dollars) - go figure

I guess I didnt look at it close enough I thought that was an axis that had been violated. I feel much better but wonder what kind of crack these guys are smoking? Did you see the starting bid?
 
I'm not for torturing a guitar like that at any level, however I don't think it LOOKS that bad! :cool:
I personally do not like gold hardware.
I'm not a fan of the Steve Vai "monkey grip"!
I don't like ivyish inlays.

But forget that it's an Axis for a moment, forget about Steve Vai's Ibanez.
The guitar on it's own looks OK!
Now that doesn't mean I'd buy it, but I'm sure someone will! :p
 
I don't know, it doesn't really have it's own identity. I'd always be wondering - "what kind of guitar IS it?" Plus, the inlay and lower horn look, well, kind of bad. I mean, you would think with such good looking parents......
 
As a former Jem player (I owned and played virtually nothing else for years and years), this little guitar had a lot of appeal at first glance, but you guys are right, on reflection it's really a case of an instrument that is less than than the sum of its parts - the various bits just don't gell into a cohesive whole... too bad, 'cause the idea could've been really cool...

Absolutley! I think I'd just like an Axis in Jet White with the white Evolution PUs and Gold hardware. That would be good enough for me! Oh yeah, and an ebony fingerboard too! :rolleyes:
 
I wouldn't ever do that to one of my guitars. But that being said, I think it's way cool. Very nicely done.

There is NO way, however, he'll get $2000 for that... Those kinds of mods never carry a return on investment,. You do that for your own personal enjoyment.
 
Wow, somebody has figured out how to get sued by two manufacturers at the same time. If he puts a "Frankenstrat" paintjob on it, he can get sued by Eddie too.
 
At least they didn't do that to an existing Axis. For that I'll cut them some slack even though It's not appealing to me.
