Traumatic experience this morning. Well, not really.

I got a call from the guitar shop I ordered my new LE from. I was thinking "No way! They got it already!"

No. They just called to tell me the new amp I ordered came in.


What a bummer, eh?

The LE's will be delayed in production 4-6 weeks as will the 30th Stingrays and the 20th Silos. Bad for those orders but good for non LE orders since they will be bumped up in production by an equal 4-6 weeks.

I hadn't heard that. So, instead of end of August for my CAR5HBongo, I'm now looking at middle of July? Sweet.....

I usually wait for these threads to go on an on until I get frustrated enough to post. This time I've decided to circumvent the feelings of frustration so I'm pokin' in early here:

1.) I have a feeling that the one-offs are out of the production line (hence "one off") , therefore don't hold up other people getting their basses.

2.) if it was in the production line, how do you know it wasn't put in the queue months ago just like everyone else's?

3.) It is BP's company

4.) just like you stated, you don't like, you don't have to buy it.

5.) No matter how many doctors you use, it still takes ~9 months to deliver a baby.

So if anyone is getting riled up, deep breaths for all.

I dont work at MM so this is not an official comment or anything... but ive been around and talked to enough folks to "get it".

you gotta understand that MM Basses and Guitars are ONLY built when ordered ... there's no pile of black stingrays sitting around waiting to get ordered. an order comes in, an instrument is built. thats how it works.

does it take a lil while? yes it does ... why .... well, cuz there's a bunch of orders "in front" of yours. besides that theres a lot of QC going on and things are NOT rushed so that they can consistently build instruments that are good. some other manufatures bang things out and you have inconsistent product. they take a bit of time to make sure every bass and guitar is put out is great ... if a Luke comes off the line, Luke himself will/should/and has been able to get it off a shelf w/ no mods and use it at a gig.

they make good stuff ... they could rush it, but then they wouldnt have the reputation they have now and we wouldnt all be counting the seconds till we got our instruments.

MM is a business they have numbers, reason that we dont have access to and im pretty sure they decide things for a good reason and not "just cause" they wanna f' with people. at the end (im assuming), they wanna turn out great product and keep the business running. im sure that's gotta be kinda tough.

as far as BP's Bongo ... well, he does own the damn factory dude

Stop and think about what you're saying.

Do you honestly think that making one bass for the owner is the reason the production for those other instruments has been delayed? I'm betting that the LE's are delayed because of issues with the gold plating or a problem with the string through bridge. Those are about the only issues that seperate them from the regular production instruments. Just chill out and relax. You do have a bass to play right now, don't you?

P.S. I'm real impatient too. Maybe it has something to do with being born in the mid '50s. Let's ask Sterling if that's the case.
