So, i have a workingman's 15 amp, and i will say i love it. but i played at a show on TV the other day, and they said we had to use thier stuff. I was concerned i wouldn't know how to dial in my settings, but luckily it was also a workingman's 15. It was the newer model. I have the old style 160/200. SAme features, differnet looking head and body. I was quickyl able to dial in my perfect tone, which pleased me. SO much so, that i got a BETTER tone in 5 minutes than i have been able to get on my amp for about a year.

I memorized the settings, idaled it in the same, and my amp. sounded like ass. I mean, dont get me wrong, it was still good, but it lacked that energy, and good vibe. I couldn't get it. THe other same watts, was world louder, and i had to put it at least 2 numbers lower on the master than normal. Again, this sucked. And if i wanted to go higher, it didn't start to run out of head room.

is this a charictartistic of age? Is there any service i can get to "bring the life" back to my amp. I really wanna get a new rig, but im out of cash. If i could fiz this for liek 100 bucks it would be killer!

thnx for the replies!!!

hmm could be just the newer design has a updated circuit which results in a louder clearer tone. i've heard of older models of amps not sounding as good as the new ones, and new ones not sounding as good as the old ones. always due to changes in the amps layout or parts manufacturers. even if they only changed manufacturers of the output transformer that could be all the difference in the world. i'd really doubt your sounding is "lacking" because of age.
