First, its not a bass. Second, yes, I am a gear whore.

Ive been trying new amps for a while, and have tried everything Id wanted to try, except for one amp. I had many stereotypes about how this amp would be outside of a music store. I almost wanted to not like this amp, since they are so widely used. So when I first plugged in, I was LOOKING for things not to like. Wrong mindset, yes I know.

I was wrong. Everything bad I thought was wrong. I love this amp, I really do. It kills in every sense of the word. I dont care about new ones vs. old ones, yada freakin yada. Alls I know is that this head KICKS, and shall enjoy a long stay with me. Combined with my GK Neo212 and 115, the tone is just there for days. Id even say 80 pounds worth.

My new Ampeg SVT Classic:

You guys are a trip.

I love GK stuff, and was glad to have a relationship with them while I did. The guys that I dealt with (Dan and Gene) are top notch.

However, as much as I like GK, and as good as their product line is, Ive just found something that works better for me. I was looking forward to the Fusion 550, and even had plans to buy one, but now I dont bleeb Ill be getting one.

I am love with this SVT, and never thought Id be an Ampeg man.

Ampeg tone is definitely hard to argue with!

For me, the GK is more about pure headroom. I use a SansAmp Bass Driver DI to help color my sound with my current rig.

Still looking forward to a GK 1001RB-II. :D

Did you get that for $300 too?

Even the biggest and baddest hybrid amps look tiny next to an SVT.:D
It's like what? 5 feet wide?

Yeah, the SVT is about the size of a Geo Metro. No kidding.

HEAVY as can be, but man when I plug in I cant help but smile.
