I was just polishing the Bongo in preparation for a Bassworld get-together tomorrow and I noticed that the coating is starting to flake off the neck. Has anyone else had this happen and what can I do to stop it?

Finish it off with steel wool?

I think I've noticed little bits and stuff of what seems to be clear-coat or whatever from the edge of the fingerboard come off but....:(

That's it exactly. If you catch it with your finger nail it comes off in fine strips.

I've had the same thing happen on my black sapphire Bongo. I just sand it smooth with fine steel wool and call it a day.
