Funny, I'm put off by the thumbrest as well. Shoot, if he really wanted a place to put his thumb, he should've got a 5er.

Talked to a guy that my girlfriend used to work with today. He plays drums in a Band, apparently they are pretty good, although I have no idea what their name is. the point of this story is that I was wearing my Ernie Ball hat, and he asked me if I played EB basses. Of course my first response was, there are other brands of basses, who knew? He then tells me that "my bassist plays two SR5's, one of which is kinda rare, its a discontinued colour called Black Sparkle, you ever heard of it?" Little does he know my sickness...
