I picked up the January issue of Bass Guitar magazine yesterday and found a nice little article about the EB Open House written by Jack Williams.I think I heard about this on the board a while back but here you go anyways......

BP has all kinds of music in it, like upright stuff even. The most stuff iv seen out of gutar magazines Bass guitar magazine is metal stuff. It could have changed. I also think BP is better bacause they have had a whole lot more expriance publishing on the subject.
 
Clearly, Bass Guitar Magazine is much better than Bass Player magazine because they had the good common sense to publish ME.

And Ed Friedland really writes for them (not just a pick up gig). And wherever Ed writes, I want to read.

Ed's a very, very talented guy and not just on bass. He can explain things in such a way that even dumb old cavemen can understand it. And that ain't easy.

...I agree, as well. I had the pleasure of meeting Ed at the School of Bass Workshop held in Tempe, AZ back in '04. He autographed my Reggae Bass book. That's also where I met Steve "Dude" Barr for the first time. Not too fond of Ed's Basses (Carvin) but I love his upright bass playing, which to me, makes up for it.:)

...Maybe if he played MusicMan...

Oh, oh...you know what? I was talking to Michael Menduno last night on his way to play with Donny Simmon's band. SOB II is in the works now with Michael, Ed Friedland, myself putting it together for sometime in September.

I think Ed's playing more than Carvins these days.

I know he's been talking a lot about.....well, not a MusicMan so I'll leave it alone, but he's not stuck on Carvins, is he, Steebo?

Ed no longer endorses Carvins due to his new Sr. Editorial role at Bass Guitar Magazine and yes, he's playing a non-EBMM that I sold him.
