Hi everyone. The pics have been great, but I was thinking it might be nice to get them all in one place for everyone to share. To that end, I've set up a FTP server where anyone who'd like to can copy their pictures. It's pretty simple to do... just open internet explorer and go to ftp://ernieball.lotierzo.com. Go to the FILE menu and choose New >> Folder. You can rename the folder as you see fit and then start putting your photos into it. You can drag and drop folders and files directly from your computer into the FTP window. You can also drag files out of the window to copy them to your computer. Since I've left the permissions wide open, try not to delete anything on the server - that'd be bad. After everyone has a chance to upload their photos, I'll create a web photo gallery and a single-file download that encompasses all the pictures. Great Idea!!

Hey Lo-T...depending on the outcome (quantity/quality) of your FTP pics, we at EB might want to incorporate some of them into a possible media package too...any problems with that? If so, PM me and we'll talk.

Otherwise, for all of you Forumites submitting your photos...this sounds like a great idea for all to take part in. Please upload at will!!:D
 
on a related note:

im gonna put together a Quicktime movie/sideshow of some pics w/ some music in the background (by kbaim). gonna try and get it in chronological order of the Open House activities so it can be a quick weekend in review thing.

hopefully ill get that done this weekend

I would suggest you allow (and recommend to everyone) the creation of folders within that ftp site. Many folks have digital cameras which use similar file naming schemes. It would be easy to accidentally overwrite other people's pics.

Maybe each user can upload their pics into a separate folder somehow?

Edit: I just re-read your original post. Perhaps it would work best if everyone got their pics into a folder with their username, and then dragged said folder into the ftp site window.

Lo-T, what a great idea! i was going to suggest that they have a separate forum just for people to post pics of the event, but your idea is way better.

And, it's also good for us that didn't really have cameras - my digital is broken. :(

Keith, what I did hear of your guitar playing was very good! I second having you do some music for the 'soundtrack'.
 
Ok....guns, cars and guitars....know about them....what in the world is this FTP thing that you want me to put my pics in? Please keep in mind, I have no problem with sharing my phots with all of ya'll and I don't have a problem with you guys/gals downloading and using them. If EBMM wants to use any of my photos, ABSOLUTELY!

So, could I get a quick education on that via e-mail or PM from you so I don't screw up anything or anyone else's photos. Just trying to make this as "Less Dangerous" as I can....hehehehe....
 
Ok...seems to be working just fine.....takes some time, but I'll have them there by the end of the weekend. Thanks Lo-T for the education via PM... :cool:
 
Wait a minute....Did anyone think of asking Ernie Ball if they wanted a third party to control the photos from the Open House...Lo-T thanks for the idea but we really want to host this ourselves. Guys give our team about a week to set this up and please let us host and control it.

Lo-T dont take it wrong...it is just a business decision and I know that you mean well.
 
BP, I see your point, and I see the other side, in which all just want to share the pics with those that WERE there to relive the memories, and to get those that weren't involved...you can obviously see the intentions are good.

Maybe, to centralize everything on the EBMM aspect, those that have pics can send a CD of said pics to a specific person at Mecca, i.e. Blair, Beth, Drew, etc. so that general sharing is available to all, as has been over the last 7 days, but when all is said and done, EBMM ultimately has a central database of the pics as well?

Just my .10... (that NorM isn't getting LOL!) :)
 
Oops...sorry BP - I think I misunderstood your previous post. Would you prefer that we NOT post our pics on our own site as well?

FTP Shutdown

If EB is going to set it up, I have no problem shutting mine down... Wasn't trying to control anything - just wanted to make it a little easier for everyone to share their photos from the weekend.

Since Koogie already spent the time to post his pics, I'll do the transfer from my server to EB's when it is up (I've got LOTS of bandwidth).

lo-T thanks for your effort dont take it wrong...I just want the fruits of our labor stored on our servers........I hope you understand that I have no hard feelings and hope you dont too. The lasting message for all out there is that if any you want to store our stuff ask us first thanks!
