OT: Grad School excitement

Just got off the phone with Dr. Batten, the dept head of mech engineering at Oregon State. I know her from my time at Virginia Tech. She was happy to talk and very enthused about helping me get back into a Ph.D. program. She still knows everyone in the math dept and on good terms with them. She told me she'd pass my name onto the math dept head and I should call him to get some direction towards applying. I'm so freakin' excited.

I have thought many times about going for my Ph.D.


But I think that "Dr. Darling" sounds too wierd.

Tiffles, Oregon State is my first choice. After that, I am up to studying just about anywhere that will pay me. Still considering overseas since I think that would be a great adventure.

I'm wrapping up my master's this month. I will probably take a few months off and then go after a doctorate. May as well while the Navy's paying for it.
