From another "bass forum":

Q: How do you get that growly sound? Ive tried putting the gain up on my amp and the treble. not like a fretless growl i cant really explain but im sure you know what i mean.

A. I know exactly what you mean . . . I would recommend getting a growly bass! You know what I mean. . . And play it with growl. That should do it.

Well, that's an entirely different sample jar of Annelids you've opened up, now isn't it?

Reminds me of when someone was trying to explain recently how maple boards have more "attackiness" than rosewood.

Well, when you consider how much of the string is touching the fingerboard.....

Wait, I'll just shut up now!

"attackiness" rocks.

"i'm buying the 60th anniversary p-bass next week and i'm gonna trick it out with a new paint job,diMarzio dp127 pickup, badass ii bridge and...wait for it...a 24 fret neck...OOOH ..did he he'd say what i think he'd say??? a 24 fret p-bass....beleive it or not ,it has never been done..wouldn't really care about the pickup 'cause i'm changing for a rmuch better one anyway."

response:
"OK. Basically, the MIM Anniversary P is a MIM P with a pickup of questionable origin, a special color, a tinted neck, a "vintage style" bridge, a stamped neckplate and a whip-ass gigbag. Your game plan is to repaint it (strike one special feature), replace the bridge (strike two special features), dump the pick up (may or not be special) and, finally, replace the tinted neck (strike three special features).

At the end of the day, you'll have paid the premium and gotten to keep the whip-ass gigbag and the stamped neckplate. Why?''

I wish EB offered a whip-ass gigbag...

Growly...

Band practice last night... First song we run through is a Sweet Home Chicago extended jam and I'm playing my Bongo on this one...

Song over - guitarist looks at me with a smile and says "Damn, I love the growl you get with that thing!" :)

He's told me before, but can't help himself... :D

Just like "I don't like Led Zeppelin much, they don't have the Deepness Nickelback has.....
Jack used to use that famous quote from TB on his posts.
Still makes me laugh....

You rosewood folks are suffering from attackiphobia.
