OT: Home Recording Software

I'm trying to get some music on the internet to showcase my thoughts and I need something to bring it from the guitar to the computer.

I'm looking for a recording program that's simple, allows mixing of tracks, possibly some eq, and a few guitar distortion modelers maybe. Also I would like it to be cheap. I'm not looking for pro quality, just something to get the job done. I'm perfectly fine using the mic input on my laptop, unless someone knows of a cheap interface. I'm looking to spend less than $100 on the whole setup.

Any ideas?

I am sure someone is bound to let you know soon. There has to be a ton of software out there to do that.

I don't think you can get much better considering you get the interface and software in one package.

If you purchase a computer music mag (british) they often have some pretty good freeware/shareware and demos.

The other option is get something like ACID Express from sony... that is pretty basic and free... you only get 8 tracks... but if your not doing it for the production but for demo should be fine.

You could also look at purchasing something like Cubasis Steinbergs watered down version of Cubase.........

But demo's could be the go for you.... a lot of them allow you pretty high levels of funcionality. Some of them cut out things such as saving or exporting... but generally have one or the other.
