ANOTHER KIDNEY STONE!

March 16/06, 12:01 P.M.. The previous one was born On Feb. 20/06. Two of these !"·$*%&/()s in less than a month! It's the first time that something like this happens to me. I didn't know about this one! The only explanation I can find is that this one was following his brother's steps so I didn't notice it. And BTW, I think it's the BIGGEST ONE in my entire "career"!

Yowch!

Do you know what causes them?

It happens to people like me, who aren't used to peeing several times a day. It was normal to me when I was a kid and it's a shame that nobody warned me about the consequences. Small pieces of calcium and other minerals get "stuck" into the kidneys since there's not so much fluid movement inside and then the stones appear. No problems when they're inside (unless there's a HUGE one) but when they go out the kidney looking for an exit is when real problems come. Unfortunately, the best way to avoid them is drinking lots of water (or beer) and reducing the milk-based foods consumption, and I do exactly the opposite. Sometimes I take a daily pill of hydrochlorothiazide, a diuretic that helps the kidneys to work. The only downside of this drug is that it lowers potasium levels, which is solved by eating bananas.

You don't take vitamin C supplements, do you? (can lead to oxalate build up)

Edit: (I'm talking about very high doses here)

Hey, this thread ought to be linked to Dudes observations regarding prostate examinations! Not much peeing a lot and loads of beer = very bad.

I understand there is a sonic treatment to reduce the size of those things via sonogram (spelling?). I have a friend that just went through this. maybe you should look into it, i am sure it will help you pass these much easier.
