Apparently we were a big hit at the Lone Star Road House. Who knew? The owner called up our manager and couldn't wait to get us back. Maybe he's thinking of another band that played there recently?

Nonetheless, we just said, "Okay, sure." I mean, this could mean another 30 bucks pure profit! (Unless we count the band's bar tab. So let's not do that.)

We'll be back at the Road House on the 31st of March, so get out your diaries and your red pens.

I promise that if all the bass brethren show up (Ben, Paul, Ray, Larry?), I will find at least one tune for each of you to sit in on, if you like that sort of thing. I've never seen Paul play live - you want to sit in on "Do It In The Road"? It has, lemme see, oh, three chords. (As does nearly everything else we play, but these are really EASY chords.)

I don't highly recommend us or anything, but I do at least play Bongos.

And I'll buy you a beer.

What's a chord?

Don't you worry. Three NOTES, I mean to say. In order of appearance:

B......E......A.....lather, rinse, repeat.

Colin, I'll buy YOU two beers if you show up.

Man I'd love to be able to pull that trip off! The Dude would have to be there though.

Hooo! Now THAT would be something! I don't know the name for it, but it would be something. The Dude in Texas? Scary.

Now look closely, Colin:

Not only do we have the guest vocalist thing going (and the Big Poppa Bongo), but what IS that hanging off Brian's microphone?

It is a bra. Tossed at us.

Need I say more?

Jack

Well, I'm not sure what song he really sang, but during "Why Don't We Do It In The Road", I have this sick tendency to invite people up to sing a verse. Why not?

The words aren't hard and you get to belt it out, right?

I could hardly understand that guy, but it was something like "Why don't we get jiggy on da flo?"

Oldtoe did a verse or two, and actually thumped a bit on my bass while I rummaged around in my pocket for a lighter. We had a fine old time.

He sang, "Why Don't We Do It On Da Flo'?"

Yep.

Dadgummit, I think I might have a gig that night out in the Boonies.

I hope not. This would be more fun.

Did I tell you I got my Summer NAMM badge request forms in the mail today for Austin in July?

Did I tell you that our guitar player lives in Austin? So we could probably work up a Cowpie gig around NAMM. Not that I particularly want to work that hard.

I hope not. This would be more fun.

We can't possibly be more fun than playing with real musicians. I refuse to accept that, no matter what you say.

You guys should have jumped into blue suede shoes right away. Weren't you paying attention?

tk

I was only paying attention to whether or not he was going to knock something over, really.......I completely missed the shoes!

Good call, TK!

The bifocals tell me someone dropped their winstons too.

I sure wish I could have been there for that fun.

tk

Ben should tell you the story of coming up to sing. I believe that's why there were smokes on the floor, but my memory ain't what it used to be.

From the pics I can tell it was a fun time for all. Those are the best gigs.
I see some tele love happening too.

After the next one you guys will own the place Jack.

Bring on 'Dig A Pony', and I'll do my damndest to get out there and foot the bass bill!

Only half-joking. ;)
