...and WOAH! What a performance...

Jesse mixes rhumba-flamenco-world influences into powerful contemporary arrangements that really groove. I've been a fan since the release of Tempest many, many moons ago, but for various reasons (including a concert missed due to my wife's hospitalization) this is the first time I've had an opportunity to see him live. The show was fantastic! It was a small, outdoor festival setting, with maybe two or three thousand people in attendance, and the band - world-class musician's every one - was on fire; they really brought the crowd to their feet...

Bassist Collin Barrett was playing a five-string Sterling in Burnt Apple with gold hardware... but maybe "playing" is too soft a word; he was making that bass talk! And he gave an impressive bass solo two-thirds through the performance...

Anyway, now I want to sell all my EBMM's and buy a flamenco guitar and start growing my finger nails. Do yourselves a favour and check out why at Jesse Cook's web site. There are some short clips you can listen to there, and all his CD's are listed... Now I gotta go listen to Vertigo again...

Hey Jimi,

That was at "Buckingham en fête" festival, wasn't it? I'm always impressed by the artist lineup that such a small festival can attract... I haven't had a chance to go see a show there yet but it's definately on my to do list.

Cheers

Yep - Buckingham en fête - great party... It was my first time out for that but my wife's from that area so she was leading me around by the nose... good fun...
