At first glance I assumed one or both of the newbie bidders pushing up the price must have been shill bidders, but on closer inspection both of the newbies have been bidding on items from other sellers as well. So, they must both have woodies over the condition of the bass and the rarity of the color.

I saw that too, wth ?!

One would, however, have to pay me more than that to
take my minty 1992 Trans-White from me, a lot more . . .

Hey Kids from my perspective it is great to see som e of our older stuff go up in value. Those were the good old days...birdseye like running water and we probably only made about 14 instruments a day back then. THere cant be too many of these and it is perfect.....what can you buy an assembled Fender copy *(wink wink) for?

Very minty! personally, I like my basses with lots of player wear and mojo on em, but dang is this a nice piece!

price is pretty nuts but if they have the money, of course theyd go for it.

Hilarious yes, but maybe they simply live outside the U.S. Used SR4 go generally for about double the price in Europe compared to the U.S. And you wouldn't want to know what a new SR4 costs in some European countries, but you can get an idea if you check out some German online stores. One of the bigger ones is the discounter (!!!) Thomann Cyberstore. Search for StingRay and click one. Check out their price and the list price.

Or they are just in for the great colour in mint condition.

However, I still find it puzzling that this one goes for more than other rarities, say a 100th NAMM Anni, or a mint 20th Anni.

Yeah, I'd been watching this one too. Interesting phenomenon. Maybe isolated, maybe not. Time will tell. :)

I've always wanted a stingray in the blueburst color but the price has to be reasonable and I would much prefer a rosewood fret board...the bidders on that item might be friends of the seller which I have seen a lot so the price goes higher
