Hey, i'm new to the ernie ball forum thing. I just registered about an hour ago. You guys on here have some unbelievable basses. I don't have my pics of any of my guitars on here yet, but i will soon. I play four nights a week for usually 3 - 3 1/2 hours each night. The bass I use most is two years old and is a blue burst sparkle w/ a maple fretboard and matching headstock. I love this particular bass. Just last week I noticed two pretty large paint cracks on the back of the guitar. I sweat a little on my stomach where the bass rests. The bass does not get exposed to extreme temperatures whatsoever. Does anyone know what causes the paint cracks? I like the look of a guitar thats been used, but these are not your standard wear and tear marks. I own about twenty five different guitars and this one is without a doubt my favorite. Will it harm my guitar? What should i do?

Brewer , if you can, post a pic or two.
What direction are the cracks?

Reason I ask is b/c one of my older basses appears
to be cracking along where the wood was mated
together (not a 1 piece body). I wouldn't expect
that to happen to a EBMM tho

I'll post pics tonight when i get home. Check tomorrow and see if its whats happening to yours. The cracks are pointing toward ten o'clock if you're looking at the back side of the guitar

how do i post the pics of my guitar?

Sorry if this is an outdated question, but I want to post the pics of my sr5 on here for everyone to see. How do I do that? Also, when I ordered my guitar from Guitar Center, I ordered Trans blue. However, when it arrived, it was not a trans blue. It was blue w/ sparkles. I loved it and kept it. I've only seen one other like it and it belonged to Mark Chestnuts bass player. His didn't have the matching headstock and mine does. He told me the color, but i don't remember exactly what he said so I was hoping my friends on the eb forum could help me. I think its called a blue burst sparkle w/ a white abalone pick guard and white p/u w/ matching headstock.

How in the world does a crack in paint affect guitar or bass? Yeah it stinks when your baby seems hurt, but we all carry scars and live on.
