About 3 weeks ago I went to the guitar center in Plano, Tx for the first time in ages just to kick some tires for a couple hours until my wife got off work. I than began to go through the expected motion of pulling one badly setup, rusted string, almost completely unplayable guitar off the wall one by one. Then I saw this very used MusicMan Silhouette Special and thought to myself. Why not? So I hailed a salesman to get it down for me.
First thing I noticed was how solid it felt. So pick in hand I plugged into a Marshall JCM 2000 60w combo, and went to town. I had never had that kind of instant aclimation to a guitar I'd never played before. The neck had a feel to it that can only be described as home.
I quit playing in bands back in 2001 because of personal reasons (wife, kids, ect.). Then last year I stared having problems with my left hand (Carpal Tunnel).
It's not that bad, but I'm normaly only good for about 3 or 4 songs.
Anyway, after about thirty minutes or so I knew that I had literaly stumbled onto something special. The body seemed glued up against me, and my hands felt fine. I was even playing solos that I had'nt remembered or played in years. The obvious conclusion was in the forefront of my mind. It was TIME TO BUY A GUITAR.
I've been playing since the late 80's and for one reason or another NEVER even picked up a Musicman. I used to see one here and there but thought they looked funny and immediately dismissed then as a viable alternative to the Kramer's, Gibson's, Fenders, Ibanez's, and Deans (pretty much in that order) that I've had over the years. Now though I suddenly apreciate thier uniqueness.
Sorry for the long read, I have only one regret and that is not discovering these wonderful guitars sooner.
