Seeing as I really wish I was the owner of that old Ray, solely for the ability to "give" it back to BP for a "one off" bass replacement (I'm not nostalgic like that), I'm curious to know if you fellow forumites were the owners, what would you do? And more importantly, what "one off" bass would you ask for?

Well I’ve been told that my LE Buttercream lefty Bongo is basically a one off.

But my dream “one off” right now would be a lefty Sterling H/S Trans Gold with a matching headstock with no pickguard or the holes for said pickguard and an ebony fretboard.

Presented to me by BP, in person, at the next open house and then jam with Luke and BP all night long.:D

I'd definitely trade it in if BP wanted it, but then I've been hanging around here for a while so I'm biased.

As for a one-off in exchange, I'd say....

The mahogany Bongo that we saw at the Open House!

I too would trade it to BP.

I'd have to shoot for something like Sparkle finish Bongo (since we are on the bass side here), maple neck and non-matching headstock.

Hmmm, well, I shouldn't really say anything about one-off Bongos, all things considered, but if I had a shot at another one.....I'd take that mahogany in a NY minute.

'Course, a Biff Baby Bongo would be nice, too.

Jack

id trade it in in a second!

my one off??? im gald you asked.

HS Sterling ...
Color: ???? trans black maybe?
Non-matching headstock & instead of a sterling logo id want a signature from Senior Sterling and have a finish over that :)

I actually thought about sanding the logo off one of my Sterlings and bringing it to OH to have BP sign it but i didnt follow through w/ that. Hell, I still wanna do that

I would get rid of it in a heartbeat.

I'd get a dual humbucker stingray 4 in mystic paint (the pettrucci color), no pickguard, no screwholes, with an ebony board, no inlays, binding, matching headstock with black hardware.

i would kill for this bass, if it asked me to.

Hmm, depending on personal attachment to the bass. If it was my Grandpa's gigging bass :) or something it would probably be to special for me to trade... but if I got lucky in an old pawn shop, lets see..

I'm going to think about it and get back to you guys.... this is important :) I do know it would be an MCB model though :)

A fretless with a maple board maybe the body being premium ash or something
Or a bongo fretless with a Status neck...and mahogany body

It's a tough one, but I like the sound of Phatduck's trans-black idea (nice).

I was originally thinking of a Stingray, deep blue, with a yellow flame ala Jack's bongo, or perhaps DARK black with yellow flame, no pickguard/holes and a graphite neck. But I should really get some sparkle in there, just to see if they would do it!

:D

So many possibilities!

I'd first clean off the gunk and yank a radio knob off a '74 Mercury Comet and stick it on there at a minimum...yeah, I'd swap it for a one off in a heartbeat too...I rolled that Comet decades ago and never looked back...know what I'm saying??
