Petrucci Model Stress Cracks

OK, I've been interested in the 6 string Petrucci guitar since I first heard John was switching from Ibanez to Ernie Ball. However, I've not played one as the local dealer has yet to order one. So, if I want one I have to order it. My concern is about the stress cracks that I keep hearing about. On JP's forum, there's several topics about the JPM having stress cracks. It's stated by someone at EBMM that there have been only 23 reported cases of this. However, there seems to be a good deal of people on JP's gear forum with stress cracks that they haven't reported to EBMM. Basically, I don't want to order the guitar, wait months to get it, and then have to deal with possible problems and have to send it back. What's the deal with these stress cracks? Is it due to the cases or some kind of design flaw? I understand that the majority of these guitars are fine, but I'm still concerned as they do cost a good deal of cash. Thanks for any help.
