Pick-up height clarification

The EB Site Bass FAQ section indicates a pick-up height of 6/32" but doesn't explain whether the measurement is taken with the string depressed at the last fret (as is normal) or not. The difference between the two would result in a considerable height discrepency.

Does anyone know the proper way to take the measurement?

To the best of my knowledge pickup height is measured on idle strings i.e. open and not fretted, but I could be terribly wrong.

The pickup height measurement of 6/32" is from the bottom of the string to the top of the pole piece without depressing the string - ie open
