hey
i have noticed something weird on my pickup. i was just seting up my bass when i was checking my pickup. the pickup was pushed inside the pickup slot when i slightly pushed it. it repositions into its normal state but i think there is a problem. is there some way that i can stabilize the pickup so it wont move?

there was recently a high quality instrument on ebay with the pickup glued in.. extremely stable is what it said.
;)

but really, foam underneath, something sturdy but sorta soft.

is it just me or does weather stripping seem to solve a lot of issues on stingrays...

its the foam under the pickup. if you want it to be more stable, put some sort of spacer under the foam(folded duct tape, plexyglass, i have both under mine on my squier. it will compress the foam and make it stiffer by making it more dense, the only downside to this is that it is harder to screw back in and it puts more pressure upwards on the screw, which could lead to stripping of the screw hole. i have not had a problem with this on mine but it should be noted that it is a possibility. or you could put surgical tubing on the screw itself in conjunction with the foam. it should be place between the pickup and the body around the screw. seymour duncan does this, i think it sucks but put it together with the foam and it works fairly well. i should say that i have plexi glass, duct tape, surgical tubing, and foam holding my pickups up.

If it happens when you're playing, perhaps. But this happens on all the instruments I've owned and I've never thought about it.

nope - sometimes it's a soft material under the pickup - allot of times there are springs on the pickup screws.

this keeps the pickup from falling all the way to the bottom of the screw if you raise them, etc.

every bass has some variation of this technique
