Piezo settings

I just got my Bose PAS - wow, another post after I get a chance to play...

But, I was getting this static on lower notes (basically the low E) when using the piezo. I have the piezo treble and bass set to their center point, but I had the mix pot all the way up. Dropping it to center seems to have cleared up the problem, but I thought the mix pot was to control the mix of piezo/magnetic when both were on with a single cable in the mono jack?

I generally play either or, not a mix of the two - what's the proper setting?

Sheesh - just found the culprit - it seems my central air return duct cover was vibrating! There should be an entry in the manual for that - see index for "DUH!"
