Hey guys,I'm from Singapore, and I just bought a brand new STEVE MORSE MUSIC MAN with a *sigh* Floyd rose tremolo.

Problem is, I bought it from a shop that deals with Taylor Acoustic guitars and they bring in like 1 Music man once in a while.

Fenders and gibsons in Singapore are really popular and I think this is the only shop that carries Ernie Ball Music man(s)

I was served by a bunch of fools who had no idea what they were selling, and I could't even get the tremelo arm off it.

They had no idea how to also, and since this is my first Floyd Rose guitar, I wasn't sure but my wife and I bought in anyway, since I know that its supposed to be really rare in this region .

Right now , its wrapped under the christmas tree, and I'll face the guitar come christmas, and I am remembering the tremelo arm thats still attached, and I have no idea what year my guitar was made, according to the salesmen, they said its 2005, and I don't believe them.

How do I take off the damn tremelo arm?Guitar techs here are full of ****.

Also, how can I check the year of manufacture?

Also, Is it possible to change the Floyd Rose to any other types?

I own mainly Fenders and Gibsons, and I really loved the feel of the neck, thats why I bought it straight away.

Hi Nick, relax first off and remember that you are getting one hell of a Christmas present.

To learn the year of manufacturer, you'll need to post the serial number off of the back plate at the neck joint.

Now, I have a Floyd, or my wife does and it's at home and I've never really taken the trem arm off. Someone else who has one will be along to help you out.
I have a feeling that there is a set screw that you have to loosen underneath the bridge.

I'm pretty sure that your not going to be able to change the trem system to another without trashing your guitar. Hopefully someone from EBMM will be able to answer that for you.

welcome no need for dying, not yet:-))

No you can´t change to another tremolo system because the routing in the wood is bigger than with other systems, leave it the way it is. It´s a great system. If you don´t want to use it remove the arm. Where we come to your second life threatening :-)) question.
On gotoh trems (which is installed on you gtr) you have to remove the backplate of the trem where the springs are and you will see that there is a screw holding the trem arm - unscrew it , there you go. But you don´t have to remove the arm in the original case.

Does this go for every EBMM? I have a Axis SS with an old type case (not the plastic one). I always take the arm of before closing the case. Probably an old habit from F*nd*r Str**s.
 
Mico I only have old cases for my MMs 90 degrees to the open side of the case and close the case (like the old investigator said)
 
Phew!Thank guys!Sorry for sounding like I was gonna die soon.The thing is, This Music man's feel is really out of this world, and I'm kinda glad that my wife and I bought it, except for the previous worries that were making me really nervous.Honestly, I've only started listening to Steve morse after buying the guitar!HaHa!I play in a part time band, mostly covers, for highly paid gigs(approx SGD 500-1000 per 2 sets) and I was looking for something versatile.I play mostly blues rock and 70's rock and a bit of santana, Chris Duarte,Hendrix here and there and I'm hoping this guitar would be able to accomodate my needs, cos I hatre lugging 2-3 guitars everytime I have a gig.

To Glen, erm, where do I post the serial numbers to?To find out the year of manufacture?

By the way ,I bought the guitar for SGD 2,549 ,Approx USD 1,475, and I'm wondering if its a reasonable price.Maybe with shipping it should be.

Its basically , Black sparkle, with black pearloid, tremelo and rosewood neck with non matching headstock.

I may sound like a broken record, but could I change the Floyd Rose to a Wilkinson tremelo?Im afraid of the tone-sucking aspects of the floyd rose.Is there any other kind of tremelo that is most suitable for replacement?

By the way , I can only know the serial number after christmas as its wrapped up now, with the warranty and all under the christmas tree.HHAHAHAHA, but Im glad to know that I can actually find that out thru this forum.

Well Black Sparkle hasn't been made since 2002-2003'ish. So it may still be new, but NOS (New/Old Stock).

You gotta post some pictures of it man, I have really seen too many sparkle Morses!!!
