Polish??... what are you guys using and BP/Jon what do you reccomend?

...umm... I guess the subject line says it all. The main reason I ask is that I've been lead to believe that Smith Polish is great but have recently heard that it's gone the way of the Martin Polish, not very good anymore.

I have some old Martin polish and have been told that it changed. I guess now we'll be talking 'vintage' polish.

The Martin stuff is good (the old stuff, anyway), but I've been using the EB polish and it works very well on electric basses, I do know that.

Haven't tried it yet on my Martin. Might just blow up or something.

As for the Smith, apparently the older formula in the white bottles was really good but the new clear bottled formula isn't the same so we're actually in a bit of a quandry here at the store to possibly look for a replacement polish...
(I got the strings,books and hopefully soon Bongos in...infiltration is a bit slow but none the less happening) hehehehehe

OK, now, I had the Smith polish in the clear bottle -- saved that puppy for years. It was niiiiice, I tell ya. Nice, smooth, soft, almost fuzzy finish, but I've seen better out of EB polish.

Pretty good thinking there. I'll have to order a bunch when I figure out what EB strings to stock. I've been using Virtuoso polish which is priced like liquid gold.

The majority of my basses wouldn't really benefit from polishing, it took them a long time to look the way they do.

I still have half a bottle of the 'good' Smith polish, but I'll pick up some EB polish when Steve gets it in.

I use car wax.....there is some that is made here in Va. Beach by a company and it doesn't contain petruoleum products in it and I use it to shine up the stable.......once a year and I'm good.

I have a bottle of Martin polish that's probably close to 10 years old now! Works just fine.

We at Bass Players Protecting Mojo from the Perils of Polish have taken the 12 step approach and simplified it down to a 4-count that Bassers and even Drumbers can grok.

Very simple. Repeat as needed:

Gook is Kool.
Mojo Rools.
Blood and Tears.
Sweat and Drool.

I sought out EB polish after learning from this forum that it existed.

I love it! Cleans the 'prints up very quickly and doesn't leave a waxy build-up.
Good stuff!
