Hey BP. I play bass in a local (columbia, SC) band. Im no luthier, and I dont really know anything about bass finishing. I am on the other hand saving up money (very slowly) for a sting ray. I was looking at a musicians friend mag. the other day trying to decide what finish I wanted on the sting ray I have been thinking about ordering. also trying to decide if I wanted to go with the 4 or 5 string model. I love the look of the 4, but love the options of the 5... anyways I thought about how cool the stingray 4 looks with a burst finish around the oval pick guard. Then I was thinking about what burst finish would be best suited for me. Then I thought, what if....? what if you guys could make a white burst finish that faded into black. I know you guys are not a custom bass manuf. and Im sorry if you read all of this only to think... wow, never gettin that 5 minutes I just wasted back. anyways a white burst finish, fading into black with a black pick guard. kind of an eclipse look. Maybe a L.E. stealth kinda package or somethin. So if you think this is lame, then sorry to waste your time, but I know I would buy it ;-) P.s. Maybe a black finished neck? (If I buy a ray, the first thing I wanna do is finish the neck.) hope to hear from ya thanks for your time.

I hate to say it because I know this is terribly annoying to you, but I wish you could leave it on just for the sheer entertainment factor that I get when you post these. :D Its a shame you cant have a pm address without people asking you dumba$$ questions all the time.
 
I guess it's just something about "talking" to the owner of Music Man that convinces people to PM you, BP. I guess there's one good thing about not owning a company, :D
 
Hey to finish that eclipse thingy, I think a little orange to red transitioning to the black would be real cool............definitely LE potential.....

Well, I know BP gets some annoying and sometimes crazy pm's, but lets not rush to judgment on this one. I think with a little refinement this would be a killer concept. How about instead of black to white burst you make it dark brown to white and get the Mallow Cup people on board....

2. Don't PM ( personal message) him unless you wanna end up as BP PM of the week which involves being sent a 20 LB ball and chain to carry around and people laughing at you.
