pot under the pickguard?

Hi, i was fooling around with the pickguard of my Al and I noticed that there's a potentiometer or something on the dummie coil.
what does it makes?
it's actually a pot?

(is similar to those things on amps that regulates bias)

That is the silent circuit. It eleminates the 60 cycle hum associated with single coil pickups. It is calibrated for your pickups, so don't change the setting on it!
