OK, yesterday I restrung my SR5 with these strings and really liked them. I even sponged during a couple of old Pips and Temptations songs last night. I really liked how they sounded, but on the funky ghost noted fingerstyle stuff it was harder to play what I'm used to feeling with the lighter gauge. I can fix that with practice, but does that heavy of a gauge put too much strain on the neck? Had to adjust my truss rod for the first time in years. I've only gone from the 45-130s slinkys and the TI JF345s. The power slinkys are the heaviest gauge I've ever used (50-135) on any bass, and while I like the tone (especially from the G string which has always sounded weak on this bass) the taught playablility makes me wonder about the risks of added tension.

Thanks.

No, you're not doing any harm to the neck. If you can account for tension wit the truss rod, it's not excessively strenuous.
