Hi all,

Im wondering if someone of the experts around here, could provide a list of the years and type of HSC or soft gig bags which where issued for basses during the Pre-EB era..:)

Sometimes it happen to see somethin gon the bay and I always don't know if they look the correct ones or not..

Indeed some pictures would help :-) :D

Thank you very much in advance

cheers

since this is a forum for eb i suspect you wont find too much information on pre-eb stuff here.

i believe somebody said it was because the records left after the pre eb period were virtually non existent.

that said we do have a moderator here that runs the Home - Musicmanbass.org, Music Man, Musicman, Music Man Bass, Musicman Bass, Music Man Guitar site, which is a great place to find info about musicman basses (both pre and post eb)
maybe rod will chime in with what he knows? :)

MrM

I still have the original vinyl (!) Music Man gig bag that came with my '79 'Ray when I bought it new in 1980 at Gracin's in Hempstead, NY. It served me well for many years, as I never had a hardshell for the bass, but it is now pretty much shot... I'll try to take a pic and post when I get home tonight. Back then, the (beige teardrop) hardshells cost extra and were not included by default with a new bass, and my paper route money only took me so far (I was 16 when I bought it..) ;-)

Thank you very much diptixon that explains why is difficult to find a pre-eb with the OHSC ... a pic of your gig bag would be much appreciated :-)

Thank yoy MrMusashi, I know very well Rod trussbroken website but I wasnt able to find detailed information about the cases and how they looked...I think that more info on this would benefit all the community :-) :-)
thank you have a nice week

When I bought my '78 Ray new, it came with your basic Fender-style case. Nothing said MM, just a generic black tolex case with the white piping on the ends. I still have the bass in its original case.

Mine came with no case when I bought it new in 1980 - I wasn't offered a case or gig bag to buy IIRC. I took my existing generic hard case to the shop to collect it with!!

I wish I still had that bass but alas sold.

Thank you all for the replies!!

I think that the original 70s gig bag should have looked like the following one:gig bag.jpg

Have a nice we :-)

I have only ever seen them in black vinyl, and they are rare.... I always wished I'd spent a little more and got the hardshell case...

Thank you very much diptixon that would help a lot to increase the current knowledge on Pre EB basses :-)

I thought the pic I posted was a brown one...but actually i think it is just a black one which is very worned out :-p

Just having a look at the 1980 Pre-EB (short version) catalogue.

There were three case options: the normal rectangular, the teardrop and the gig bag.

Rod, Thank you very much for the info, perhaps, would you have a .pdf copy of the catalogue or would you mind to share it with others? I think that will be a useful resources..
about the OHSC here is another new picture of one..this time the interior is blue as the Bert one Blue case.jpg :-)
