A friend of me wants to buy a pre ernie ball stingray 1978.
the color is inca silver, and he asks 1500 euro.

Is it too much? and are they good?

I own a sabre '91. is it a big deffirence in sound?

The pre EB StingRay has a bullet truss rod (pretty good idea, except that the bullet needs a hex wrench and strips out easily) and a 3 bolt neck attachment with micro tilt (a small hole in the neck plate gives you access to a small hex screw that can be turned to tilt the neck. Imho it works best with otu the neck tilted at all).

The EB Sting ray has a truss rod you can adjust with any tool that fits the hole, and it is virtually impossible to destroy. The neck attachment is with 6 bolts, no tilting. Imho those benefits alone says you should get a recent bass instead.

Inca Silver is a pretty rare color that commands a higher price than normal.

An Inca Silver '77 or so Stingray just went for $3000USD on ebay.

Price sounds pretty fair, but it's an old bass (yeah, I know, vintage) so make sure everything works and the neck is good... I have an early EB with the bullet truss rod adjuster and haven't had any problems with it. Just go easy on it (best to loosen strings first) or take it to a good repair shop.
