Funny you should bring this up--there is a tenuous Claypool/Musicman connection.
Les has a certain tone that's very hard to obtain, however, I've been able to basically nail his Carl Thompson sound. My Sterling, set to single-coil mode, through and SWR Interstellar Overdrive to add a bit of grind, into a 1x15 cab. John the Fisherman anyone?

Im proud to say ive been within a foot from les claypool...
i was standing outside my local venue as he walked by me to go to his van for something.
Tickets sold out though

Victor is the man. Last time he was here in San Diego on his solo tour at the Belly Up Tavern, I ended up going to the bar wayyyyy early and there he was just hanging out with his crew. The older guy who'se name escapes me was Victor's music teacher while growing up. Very nice guy as well. Cracking jokes about how Victor and his bro use to smack eachother around when they were kids. They were having a good time setting up.

I grew up here in SD. Lived most of my younger life in La Mesa. I went to Monte Vista HS. Then move to Pacific Beach during my college years. Got married to my wife and moved to Rancho San Diego. We had kids and needed a bigger house so now I'm in EastLake which is really East Chula Vista but the City of Chula Vista has a bad reputation of being a bad city except for Eastlake which consists of house that are 10 years old or newer. They are still developing the area. Anyway we alway just tell people we are from Eastlake.

Back to the original topic for just a second, if you're talking about the Five Gallons of Diesel (or whatever it's called), I just ordered it on Monday and await its arrival with much excitement. I was a bit disappointed in the visual quality of the last Primus DVD, but what the hell, it's still Les.
