Okay, I'm in need of some assistance with this one. I'm torn between these two Multi-effects units (The Rocktron Xpression and the T.C. Electronic G-Major).

Anyone have any thoughts or advice for either of these two processors? I've heard that more Mesa users like the Xpression better because it doesn't process the sound of the tube amp.

Any and all advice/thoughts would be greatly appreciated, folks!
 
I love Rocktron... I use their individual Pedals and have had nothing but success with them... and they are built like Iron (ok extruded aluminum) horses... and a friend of mine is the rep for Rocktron so... I'm kind of partial... :eek:
 
I have owned both. The G-major has never crashed and generally it is great as a multieffects unit on a budget. The parameter knobs are not entirely roadworthy though. It is slightly less transparent than the Rocktron. However, the Rocktron relies on multiple menus and sub menus that make programming the thing a nightmare is comparison to the G-major.
 
I've heard many bad things about the G-major. It sucks tone, it's not 100% reliable. Out of those two I would take Rocktron, even if it is harder to tweak.

Other TC electronic gear is great though
 
Funny, I have read many threads stating those units are great, they suck and they are both hard to tweak and easy. I guess it depends on the whether the units work or don't for the individuals or they can tweak them.
 
You know, I've found that the G Major compliments a sound really well without any tone suckage. This is in comparison to pedals and the like that I've used over the years.

Also, the one thing that I like about the GM is that there is no abrupt switch of effects. When you're in the middle of playing a rhythm with some reverb in the mix, and you switch over to a little delay, it carries right over without any notice. That was the selling point for me, as I hate that abrupt change of direction.

As far as reliability, things have been good and solid for me in the usage of said item. I recommend it highly...go get you one! :)
 
G Force user here. Only had it a few months but really pleased with the sounds on offer.

I find it fairly complicated but then I also find the microwave complicated!

I used to use a Rocktron Intellifex. I think a second-hand one of these now would be a major bargain if you just wanted a basic range of effects.

I suppose I ought to dig mine out and sell it sometime.:D

Actually, I want to pick up something that is editable. Ideally, I'd like to be able to use a MIDI Footcontroller as an interface for the Live set so that I can program the thing to accept my specific settings per song and just bank through the settings as such. I've recieved some reccomendations for the G-Major to use with a Behringer FCB1010.

I know that the G-Force is a much more in-depth processor but at the moment, I'd just need to have something that would be somewhat adjustable and yet not take me a rediculous amount of time just to figure out how to turn a knob.
 
I don't think you can go wrong with TC. I have a G-Major and run it with my F 50, and it works really well. I also have owned in the past a G force, defenetely one of the best guitar prcessors available, IMHO.
 
I wanted to dig up this debate again. For those of you who said TC, still like em, working ok? Any Rocktron users out there? What midi pedal are you using if any?
