I know Bongo 5 players have a hard time finding gigbags/cases for their Bongos, so I thought I'd post about my new Levy's leather gigbag that just arrived.

I've got a super nice InCase DubBag for when I want to take two basses, but I didn't have anything for a single bass for when I'm a) feeling lazy, or b) plan to take my 6 string ABG or Ashbory and an electric.

So, I picked up this beautiful Levy's leather gigbag in Antique Brown that is absolutely stunning and fits the Bongo 5 string like a glove. It's got 1" of padding, and well, it's real leather, and looks great.

AussieMark's basses are, sadly, made of glass and must be moved from gig to gig in a hperbaric sealed chamber surrounded by a fleet of armored security guards , but I've been using gigbags for going on 15 years with nary an incident. This is, easily, the nicest gigbag I've ever owned/seen. Easily worthy of the Bongo that it carries (safely and snugly) inside.

The inside dimensions are 49" x 16" and it's even got a nice saddle pocket on the front for a strap, or other things you want to put in it.

They certainly aren't cheap, but it's an investment I'm glad I made.

Beautiful!.... AND VERY PRACTICAL! I use the cheaper Levy's CM19E (?) model and they're great. Good thick padding for sure.It might be time for the upgrade

My reasons for using hard cases:

1. My basses travel in vans with my PA
2. Before we set up, and after we tear down, I like to sit and have a beer or two, safe in the knowledge that my bass is well protected from falling drunks
3. I don't find hard cases heavy or awkward
4. Hard cases stack and pack really well (I take two basses to every gig, one as a backup)

We may be geographically polar opposites, but I think we were cut from the same piece of cloth.

It is also much easier, with a long hard case, to barge your way through a crowd of drunken wedding guests, who refuse to drink up and leave and insist on standing in the doorway and corridors when you are trying to get the gear out at the end of the night.

I have to agree on these points.

Bassmonkee, that case is beautiful. Did you buy it locally or did you get it online somewhere? I might look into getting one of those for gigs where my basses wouldn't be packed with other equipment.

I'm just giving you a hard time, Mark.

When I eventually make it to Austrailia, I fully expect to hoist a few with ya! Did you ever replace your hot female singer when she went to Japan with her hot daughter to be a hot model?

We're kinda in limbo at the moment, while the modelling thing gets sorted. She's juggling modelling contracts in Japan and New York, so until that gets finalised we're in "recess". In the meantime, the guitarist, drummer and myself are rehearsing as a blues/rock trio, and no matter what happens with the main band we will likely do that on the side anyway.
