ok so ive been messin with lots of different settings and i really like the slap sound i get, its real punchy and sounds awesome to me when im standing right in front of the cab about a foot or 2 away, but when i back away from the amp to be about 10-15 feet away it kinda loses that punch that i really like and it makes me sad cause that punch it what i want to hear and what i was others to hear, does anyone on this site know how i can make it so i can actually get the punch from farther away? im totally cluelesson this one thanks again.

nothin special, just a behringer bx4500h ultrabass head, and a behringer ultrabass bb210 cab.

+1 The scooped mid sound is a recipe for getting lost in the mix. 500 hz is your friend!

I agree with that 100%. Most players boost the bass (40hz) too much. They kill the people in the crowd, yet can't hear themselves on stage.

I disagree. I think you need good midrange definition for a good slap tone.

leave your low mids flat, even cut a bit, and boost you high mids!

ok, ummm sorry if this is a dumb question, but what if i got a 4x10 cab to add to my set up, would that add any?

When I want more punch I use one of these:

You'll do well to add cabs with snap too. GK, SWR (especially a Goliath III 410).

The SR is THE slap bass so at least you don't have to worry about that aspect of your rig (Alva may have sumthin to say about this tho').

does it matter what brand of cab to add??behringer, GK, and so on??because i may be able to get some cash for a cab but i dont have the money right now for a whole new head, etc. especially since school is starting and i wont be able to work because i got football practice and everything.

It's a whole lot cheaper to turn some knobs. See what you can do with what you've got before you assume you need new gear.
