im new to musicman basses, I've always been a warwick guy until yesterday. I'm just curious if this 2002 SR5 H is any different than newer or older models when it comes to the pickup or anything for that matter. I haven't been able to find much info on it. I was told by the person who I got it from that it was a 1993 model but he was wrong. Thanks in advance

As i understand it the verry first sr5 basses had alnico polepieces like the sr4. Then there was a period where they had ceramic polepieces, so they where actually sterling basses because they also have the 3position switch that functions the same. Then the newer sr5 basses are mede with alnico polepieces again since they released the sterling 5, otherwise the sterling and sr5 would be the exact same basses with a different body. So they did change it back to alnico. Im not sure about the exact dates this all happened. But i think yours is still a ceramic pickup type. But please correct me if im wrong guys

That's cool, I thought it was the ceramic one. I'm noticing with the switch in the neck position (series I believe), I'm losing volume and clarity. Is that normal?

Yours IS the ceramic pickup so basicly you own a sterling 5 dressed as a sr5 :) en a big no to your 2nd question, series should give you more output the parallel seting.... if this is not the case, contact ebmm customer service. Contact info is listed on their website.
