Hello!

Can anybody comment on neck radius of the Luke (12") vs. the radius of the Axis (10"). Does it feel much flatter?

My Godin has a 16" radius and it feels much flatter than the radius of my Axis sport but I wonder if the difference between 10" and 12" is noticeable...

Yes I think the radius difference is noticeable, but it doesn't create a problem moving from one to the other.

They are both very comfortable for me (tho I prefer the Axis neck) but the radius difference is totally overshadowed by the difference in neck profile.

They're both really really nice necks but are very different.

Im worried about getting a Luke after adjusting to my Axis im sure all will be good

+1 on what Dodgeball said.

I switch between them both regularly (and Morse to Luke), and have no problems going back and forth. The sweet profile of the Axis still feels great after having picked up the Luke- no worries there.

The thing that I find most about the luke is how easy it is to wrap my thumb around the top of the fretboard- it just screams "hit me with those funky chords". :D

The neck on the Luke is just different from the other EBMMs- one of those things you really have to try and see if you like. I love it, and I generally prefer necks with some beef to them (AL, Morse) - I don't mind the small profile at all.

I'm seriously thinking about ordering a luke in the coming weeks but I won't be able to try one since they are rare birds around here (especially in lefty!). I'm hoping that I'll like the neck profile... I don't have particularly large hands but have long fingers:eek: ... You know what they say about people with long fingers...:D

My Luke's (4) all feel a tad different. I find the one with the smallest neck is the one that's most comfortable for me, so I always use it when I'm trying to figure something out and play it better. The small neck makes grips easier.

There's a stunning Black Luke In the Las Vegas Guitar center on Tropicana that I spent a couple hours playing this weekend. I made an offer but they didn't want to sell it to me for that. Might try again next time if it's stilll there. Wonderful neck on it and it sounded great.
 
2 very differents necks, you can feel the Luke fingerboard to be flater, but 2 excellents necks, as good, very smooth, i like them both equally, EBMM makes the better necks in the guitar industry IMHO !
 
I've found that I get use to all of my guitars. Whichever one I'm playing at the time, it feels natural.

That's not to say I don't have my preferences or that I don't think one neck is better than the other. But if I have a guitar with a neck I don't like or can't get use to, I sell it.

I transfer between my EVH with a 10" radius and my Wolfgang with 15" radius' all the time and have no struggles. Also, I have a guitar that I made with a Carvin neck on it. That is a 15" radius and is very wide compared to the EVH and even the Wolf. Still not a problem because I've played it so much my brain just keeps the feel in memory for later use.

If you're talking about 12" to 10" I would think that other aspects of the neck profile would take on more meaning than the radius.

Where is the Las Vegas Guitar Center? Where is it in relation to the strip and the hotels? I am going to Vegas and CA in June and would like to check it out!

Las Vegas Blvd (THE STRIP) runs North and South.
Guitar Center is on Tropicana Blvd. (which runs East and West at the southern end of STRIP)Tropicana is the street that has NEW YORK NEW YORK, EXCALIBER, MGM GRAND, and the TROPICANA hotels on the corners.

(Apparently, they also just opened another GC on Charleston (further North) just west of highway 15).

The GC on TROPICANA is about 3 miles EAST of the Strip on the right hand (south) side next to a Wal Mart. They had 2 rosewood axis SS, a pet w piezo, a luke, a honeyburst axis ss, an olp doubleneck.
Very nicely stocked

Keith, I know exactly where that is! Thanks for that! Looks like I will be paying them a visit! I am planning on staying at the Luxor again, which is not far from this intersection.

Yep. Luxor is right there. BTW Worth riding the simulator rides at the Luxor, and the NY NY rollercoaster, if you like that sort of thing....which I'm guessing you do based on the rooftop thing. :p

I didnt go on the simulator in the Luxor as those things make me feel sick! Did go in the replica tomb though.

Sadly, the NYNY rolercoaster is out of bounds as I have a weak back, and those things don't do it any favours!

The rooftop stunt was my tip of the cap to Brian May, who did it on top of Buckingham Palace!
 
The Luke neck is slightly flatter. It's enough of a difference for me to notice, but not so much that it bothers me one way or another.

To me, the biggest difference in the necks lies in the frets. (Well, OK, not technically the neck. :) ) The fret height is different--lower in the Luke--and I find that is the difference I notice the most, not the radius.
