Hi all,

New to the forum. I got directed over here by someone at TDPRI who made me both curious and paranoid about my Dargie Delight II JP6. I got it used as a pick your own gift for graduating from grad school type deal. I played it, loved it, but didn't really know a thing about it until one of the tele forum members explained that it was a particularly limited run.

Anyway, it got me wondering...
  • does anyone know how many of this model were made? Not that I'm looking for something to flex about, but I'm genuinely curious.

  • there's a little buzzy quality to one of the strings that sounds like it's coming from the bridge and I'd like to just get it sorted. I'd rather just take it to someone because my-do-it-yourself repair comfort level for my instruments is fairly limited, and don't have time between work, home responsibilities and 2 toddlers at home. Knowing that it's a rare bird, now I'm a little paranoid about who I have do the work. I don't know many local techs and there's really only one shop that has anyone I would trust with any of my instruments. Would you trust that type of deal to a hopefully reputable local type, or take it somewhere specific?
I know we aren't talking about an original 1950s les paul, but I love the guitar, and it has sentimental value. I don't care about resale because I'm having trouble coming up with many scenarios where the guitar gets sold. However, I sure as anything would like to keep it as nice as possible.

Thanks!

Welcome and Congrats!!! Let's see it!!!

EBMM doesn't publish quantities, they did once (Dargie 1) and haven't since.

As for the fret buzz there can be a number of things, do a search here for JP fret buzz, you should find something to help out.

For the buzz, check to see that the bridge saddle has both set-screws solidly on the plate below (string-height adjust). Sometimes one is loose.

You might also check the neck relief. Fret the string at the first great AND the 20th fret, and then see if there is any space between the string and the frets at the 10th/11th frets. Should be just a TINY bit. If there is none at all, then you need a truss rod adjustment.
