Questions re: new SR4

I am going tomorrow to order a new fretless SR4. I am torn between vintage sunburst, unlined, plain headstock, black pickguard, and tobacco sunburst, unlined, plain headstock, tort pickguard. Which would you all pick? Also, is the piezo option worth the extra cost? Finally, any idea how long it will take EB to build the bass?

While I can't answer the question. I will say when you get an EBMM you get one of the best basses you will ever hold in your hands. Can't go wrong with any choice any way when you choose EBMM.

Agreed! I have two fretted SR4s and a fretted SR5 at the moment. I have had other EBMMs too in the past. Love em!

Go for Tobacco Burst!

I think the piezos would be a very nice option for a fretless, though on a StingRay that means an additional separate knob (unlike the Bongo, which just splits the pickup pan knob to include the piezo one). That may or may not get in your way.

As to the build time, I think it was roughly five months for my Bongo, but I believe there was a shortage of some sorts at the time. Generally, I'd say three to five months.

I love honeyburst, but one of my fretted SR4s is honeyburst, so I thought I'd try something different. I been playing my SR5 a bunch tonight, and now I'm thinking maybe I should just order a fretless SR5... I'll sleep on it, but I'm placing an order tomorrow So confused!

Black cherryburst is sweet, when I got my honeyburst SR, I had to decide between that and a black cherryburst. I'm adding that to the list of possible suspects.

I personally don't like the matching headstock on the bursts. It's a good thing they make it both ways.

EB told me 10 weeks to build. BTW, my Sterling Natural, Maple , Abalone PG

will be here Dec. 4th (10 weeks on the button!)

Ok, I ordered an SR4, unlined fretless, vintage sunburst, black pickguard, piezo upgrade. I don't have an eta yet. I asked my dealer to ask if EB could set up the bass with the lightest available EB flats -- I'm not sure if they will do this. It going to be a long wait

One more thing, I think I made it clear that I wanted the three band EQ, but I'm not sure. Does the piezo option even come with a two band, though?

Nope. Stingrays w/ piezos will have the 3EQ. Anyway, congrats! It is definitely going to be a long wait, but it will be worth it!
