Randy Jackson rockin the SR5

I was looking at the forums and American Idol was on TV in the room.

I looked up because they said Randy Jackson on the bass. He was backing Mariah Carey and KILLING it on an HH SR5.
 
I just saw that, too. I'm not a huge Mariah fan, but Randy was lookin' pretty sharp back there with that Stingray:cool:
 
Interesting, I would've thought he would've been playing a Bongo - I know he owns atleast one. Our girl Duchess (Alana) performed a number of times with a Bongo borrowed from Randy, from what I recall.

Hmmm, I'm in the Mountain time zone, I wonder if I can still catch it - did that happen within the last half hour of the show for your guys in the more easterly timezones?

In the last 5 or 10 minutes of the show.
 
cool..hopefully it will up on youtube within a few days so i can catch the SR action.
 
I was at band rehearsal tonight and I got a text message from my girlfriend, she typed "Randy Jackson played a Stingray 5HH". I called when I was done and she gave me the 411. You know I have a keeper. :)
 
Dammit Travis, you beat me to it! Haha.

I'm sitting there behind the camera and all the anchors hear is, "Holy crap! Since when does Randy play a StingRay 5?"

They obviously had no idea what the hell I was talking about.

Back to topic:

I thought Randy sounded great. And FWIW i thought Mariah sounded pretty good too. Didn't realize she had such range. Anyone catch Fergie singing with Heart - that was good too.

Yep, it's new - just moved here a few weeks ago, or "back here", I should say. We lived here for a few years once before. I live in Broomfield, pretty much half-way between Denver & Boulder.

Agreed, on both accounts. Randy "did his thang" & turned in a tasty finger-style groove, and while I'm not a "fan" of Mariah, I do acknowledge that she has a great voice & her performance was good lastnight ... she seemed to be feelin it.
 
Yep..I looked up to see Mariah and then my eye caught the familiar shape of an SR5 pickguard off to the right, thats all I saw at first. "Go Dawg ! Showing some SR5 love !" :D

Man, that SR5 HH sounded good. Awesome tone.
Randy is a great bass player.

* do you think he had it strung with flats?
 
I don't think he had flats on it because I heard some pops here and there and you could hear a hair of fret in his tone here and there which probably wouldn't be heard with flats.

The bass sounded great and he is an excellent player. I really like him a lot and not because of AI. I might check out his new project.
