Re: String height on fretless

Does the string height on fretless need to be higher than fretted basses?
I have tried several times to adjust the truss rod and string height down on my MMSR5 fretless and am finding that I can't get it as low as a fretted bass without it buzzing all the way up & down the neck.
Then again maybe I'm just used to my Ken Smith BT5G (ultra low action) and it's really not that high.

I'm using Ernie Ball 2836 Regular Slinky RoundWounds for the brightness.

Tips anybody? Thanks!

I don't have a fretless Stingray, but on my fretless Jazz bass I like the action low with a slight buzz. You can't hear the buzz amplified, and it produces maximum mwah.

I guess it depends what kind of tone you want out of your fretless though.
